Dr. Roxburk, the then Director of Calcutta Botanical Garden in a letter written to the Court of Directors of East India Company in 1795 used for the first time the word “Jute” instead of ‘Pat'. From then on the word Jute is used by all spectrum of people in Bangladesh and all over the world. Jute fibre is used in packaging, textile and non-textile sector annually renewable and bio-degradable.
